It is a universal knowledge that flowers are ranked pretty high up when it comes to popular gift-giving on Valentine's Day, but did you know, in the LA Flower District, Mother's Day beats out V-Day? The numbers don't lie. In the LA Flower District, many vendors, who even stay open 24 hours up until Mother's Day, can make a considerable chunk of their yearly income on this single event! Foot traffic and ticket sales (some markets require an menial admission fee) also reflect a higher number of shoppers on Mum's Day. These numbers are also indicative that flowers and supplies at the LA Flower District are highly sought after. We will show you why it is and how it saves you money.
Hours
The LA Flower District is America's largest wholesale flower district and dates back to the early 1900s. It is located in the Fashion District, between 8th and 7th Streets, perpendicular to Maple Ave, Wall and San Julian Streets. You can read more about the history here. It has several popular "flower malls", which are all open to the public and have special extended hours for Mother's Day. The California Flower Mall, for example, will be open 40 hours straight starting Saturday, May 7 until May 8. The Los Angeles Flower Market and Southern California Flower Market will extend their regular hours on Wednesday & Thursday 8-1pm, Friday 8-2p, and Saturday and Sunday, 6-3pm.
