New Girl in Town

Today was my first day of work. It went great and makes me really excited for the future. I'm still getting settled in my new house and becoming used to living in a different part of the country! I've tried to keep little touches of florida in all of my decorating.

I thought I'd share a few snapshots of my first few days here:

Learning how to dress in layers!

Here are a few images of my not entirely completed living room:

I've thankfully been keeping very busy unpacking and decorating my place and trying to make myself feel at home in new surroundings. Thanks for all the support from family/friends/bloggers!

Pucci's Psychadelic Feminimity

I've safely arrived in Wisconsin and I've spent the last 2 days with my parents unpacking dozens of boxes, building ikea furniture, and learning how to shovel snow. So, things have been a total whirlwind, but slowly but surely falling into place!
I finally have had some time to look through the Fall/Winter 2011 runway shows and found another favorite in Emilio Pucci's collection; all of the garments are seriously stunning!

Peter Dundas, the designer for Pucci knows how to flatter a feminine silhouette like no one else! I love the unique placement of cutouts in the dresses and squared off necklines, keep your eyes peeled for that trending!

In Transit

As I sit in one of the airport's adorable white rocking chairs during my continuously growing layover en route to Wisconsin I thought this editorial couldn't be more perfect. Though my traveling attire is by no means runway ready, I can totally appreciate the stylish girls who can rock high heels while running to their terminal!

Call me crazy, but I really don't mind airports. I love to people watch, grab myself a starbucks, and have enough time to actually sit down and read a good book.

Next time I write I'll be an official Midwest transplant. Shout out to my bffls who dropped me off at the airport and shared some tears and rum runners before my departure. They are the best friends a girl could ask for!

"Go Confidently in the Direction of Your Dreams.."

I love this quote and think it's perfectly empowering for my last day of COLLEGE! WHOA! I leave on a plane for Wisconsin tomrorrow to move into my little house, start a job and the next chapter of my life. Absolutely crazy! I'm really going to miss my friends, family, and Florida. I'm so grateful for everyone's support!
I thought I'd share some images from my last week with friends. I have the best friends ever(some I've known since we were babies) and I'm going to miss them like crazy! I can't wait to see all the amazing things that everyone goes on to do post-graduation (& hopefully have some visitors to see me)!

I've definitely enjoyed my college experience to the fullest, I will always stay in touch with the friends I've made here and be a Florida State Seminole for life!

I'll leave you with a quote:
"You have four years to be irresponsible here. Relax. Work is for people with jobs. You'll never remember class time, but you'll remember time you wasted hanging out with your friends. So, stay out late. Go out on a Tuesday with your friends when you have a paper due Wednesday. Spend money you don't have. Drink 'til sunrise. The work never ends, but college does."- Tom Petty

LPF's Bachelorette Pad: Modern Boho Living Room

They say you can take the girl from the beach, but you can't take the beach out of the girl! Though I'm moving far far away from the sunshine and sand I've grown up with this bohemian aesthetic & state of mind will always stick with me! My living room has a sort of relaaxed & eclectic boho feel to it with the fabrics and natural accents.

Along for the Ride

I spotted this editorial from Bon Magazine's Spring/Summer 2011 issue and felt that it captured exactly what I'm feeling right now.
This is my last weekend at college with my friends and I leave next week for a move to the Midwest to embark on an entirely new journey. It's exciting and scary, and right now I'm just along for the ride wherever life takes me!

Wild for Proenza Schouler's Western Collection

I'm never disappointed with Proenza Schouler's collections. They always seem to be EXACTLY what I'm loving at the moment.Their Fall/Winter 2011 looks were no exception. I have a closet overflowing with cowboy boots, more turquoise shirts than one could ever need, and recently found the perfect navajo wrap sweater to add to my wardrobe. I also love the mustard & turquoise accent colors!

I'm still going through all the NY fashion week show images to see what catches my eye, but Proenza was an obvious early favorite for me!

S/S 11 Trend Report: Designer Swimwear

Hey everyone! Today I have a guest post from Susan, blogger at Beauty and the Beach for InStyle Swimwear
Spring break is almost here, which means it’s time to start stocking up on chic designer swimwear! La Petite Fashionista and InStyleSwimwear.com have teamed up to fill you in on the hottest trends for the 2011 swim season.
1. Tie-Dye
Tie-dye is no longer reserved for the hippies and free love devotees. Designer swimwear featuring bold tie-dye prints are totally chic for 2011. Whether you prefer classic curled patterns or subtle ombre prints, get ready to spread the peace and love in tie-dye swimsuits.

2. Retro-Inspired Swimwear
It seems as if fashion keeps going back in time! For spring/summer 2011, 50s-inspired retro swimsuits are all the rage. Think sweetheart necklines, high-waisted bikinis and pinup style one-piece swimsuits. With this designer swimwear trend, you’ll look classic and chic.

3. Nudes & Subdued Hues
In terms of color trends, say goodbye to last year’s purples and citrusy limons. For the 2011 swim season, snag your favorite swimwear styles in soft corals, subdued limes and of course golden flesh-toned hue

4. Animal Prints
In the world of designer swimwear, animal prints are always in style. But for S/S11, instead of your typical leopard and zebra printed swimsuits, let your animal instincts loose in python prints, fierce tiger prints and even crocodile-inspired prints!

20x200: Art for Poor College Students

20x200 is a project by Jen Bekman where artists are selected to have their work printed in limited editions for as inexpensively as $20, a price even we poor college students (& young adults) can afford! I love that it's an opportunity to support independent artists and own a piece of totally unique artwork for your walls.
They release new prints every week, but these are a few of my favorites currently in the gallery:
