I love fashion week. Working in the fashion industry has truly given me a new respect for all the thought work and detail that goes into every last stitch of a garment that comes down the runway. I always end each season feeling totally inspired, and wishing I could be wearing everything already.
As much as I love the avant garde pieces from each collection. It's really exciting to see things that look like you could practically wear them right off the runway. These are a few of the collections that felt just like that for me:
Burberry FW12 Trends: preppy rugby stripes, rugged canvas jackets, and bow belt details. A mix of feminine silk fabrics with traditional tweeds and the occasional quirky graphic tee thrown in to keep things from feeling too serious.
J. Crew FW12 Trends: Unexpected shades for fall; mint, hot pink, lipstick red, and royal blue. Fairisle sweaters in un-traditional shades, stripes, snakeskin, jeweled collars, and long coats to top off a look.
DSquared FW12 Trends: Layered to the max with sweaters and toggle coats, cropped pants, and striped sweaters. Leopard accents and fifties feel with cateye glasses & bouffant hair.
Mara Hoffman FW12 Trends: Traditional Ethnic prints, hammed metal jewerly, dress cutouts, floaty maxi dresses, and Indiana Jones headwear.
Thakoon FW 12 Trends: Fur vests, spacedye marled yarn knits, collared shirts layered under sweaters, wool navajo coats, maxi dresses, knotted shirt dresses, earth tones.
Have you been following FW12 Fashion Week? If so, what have your favorite shows been? Or which is your favorite of these designers' collections?
