5 Ways to Keep Your Balance in Life

My little sister, Allie is my best friend and my go-to for questions on live, life & well-being.We both got a tattoo together when she turned 18 with the Hawaiian words for "keep your balance". I love this everyday reminder to keep things in perspective and the fact that I share it with my sister!

She is here to share five ways to "keep your balance" in life!

1. Develop a mantra for when things get tough
Sounds corny, but positive self-talk works wonders for your self-esteem.
Mine is: I’m strong, I’m passionate, I’m beautiful, and I’m worth it!

2. Pursue the things you love
If you love the things you are deeply invested in; school, work, projects- you’ll enjoy spending time on the effort you put in, and you will excel. Find a way to create success from whatever makes you happiest.

3. Exercise
Take time every day to give thanks to your body for all of the work that it does. Clear your head, and rejuvenate your mind. Whether you’re a yogi, runner, or love to Zumba, get out there and let those endorphins flow freely… especially if it’s a stressful day!

4. Surround yourself by positive people
Environment is everything. It’s hard to blossom in a stifling atmosphere. Be around those you admire and adore; people whom will better you as an individual.

5. ALWAYS remember to treat yourself
I love going to the coffee shop for a latte and getting my work done. Treating yourself makes the monotonous parts of life much more enjoyable- A reward for your hard work. Whatever your guilty pleasure is, you deserve it!

Allie launched an etsy store this week of boho bracelets handmade with love that give back 10% of every sale to the Center for Young Woman's Health in Boston, MA. She is truly an inspiration to me. She recently transferred to Smith College to spread her wings, entrepreneurial spirit and pursue a degree in Women's studies.

I wanted to share a few of my favorites from her shop, Keep Your Balance (I  helped design her logo!). They are all incredibly affordable, starting at just $12.00!
