Latest Lust: Aran Sweaters

When it comes to fall fashion few things are more iconic and classic than a traditional aran sweater. These cableknit sweaters go by many names; "chunky cable knit", "fisherman sweaters". The truth is that a true Aran Sweater is made in the Aran Islands off of Ireland and were originally worn by fisherman, & usually a traditional cream color.

Although I'm no fisherman, I can totally rock one with a pair of skinny jeans and leather boots.

I loved what I read about what the different cables mean on the sweater; "The honeycomb is a symbol of the hard-working bee. The cable, an integral part of the fisherman's daily life, is said to be a wish for safety and good luck when fishing. The diamond is a wish of success, wealth and treasure. The basket stitch represents the fisherman's basket, a hope for a plentiful catch." (via wikipedia).

I certainly need to add one to my collection this fall!
