Want to get waxed downtown?

Jennifer and Amy at Wax Candy
Wax Candy opened for business last week making it the only salon specializing in waxing in downtown LA. They offer every waxing service from face to legs and everything in between.

“We wanted to create the kind of waxing salon where we would want to get waxed at,” said Wax Candy co-founder and owner Jennifer. “Wax Candy has a fun, relaxed atmosphere, where waxing is as painless as possible.”

Jennifer opened Wax Candy with three of her friends, all former co-workers. They each have at least five years of waxing experience.

“After working at a lot of different places, we realized there was really a need for a place in Downtown that specialized in waxing,” said Amy, fellow co-owner and founder. “We’ve seen full-service salons make mistakes waxing pros know not to do. We never double dip.”

Wax Candy prides itself on clean and sterile waxing practices. The wax is heated in one pot and poured into individual biodegradable cups, and the cup and stick are thrown away after each use. The also use high-quality, azulene wax with chamomile extract to help the wax better stick to the hair instead of the skin.

The salon has very competitive pricing ($25 for a bikini wax!), but perhaps the best part of Wax Candy is their super friendly staff. The girls are very knowledgeable and encouraging, and completely understanding of first-timers. Plus, first-time customers get a 10% discount.

Candy at Wax Candy! If you're good, they'll give you a lollipop ;)

Private waxing rooms- the girls built them themselves!

Walk-ins are welcome. Parking is street parking. There is also a lot directly across from the salon. Gift certificates are available. Wax Candy recommends waxing when hair is the length of a false eyelash. You can find more tips and tricks for waxing on their website.

Exciting News for LPF!!

Drumroll please.... I'm so excited to share with everyone that I've decided to launch a digital fashion/lifestyle magazine, LPF Mag! It's something I've been wanting to do for a really long time, and after an inspiring chat last week I've decided there's no better time than the present!

So, what will LPF Mag be about?

Aritcles and stories on everything from fashion, interior design, travel, DIY, entertaining, beauty, inspiring women entrepreneurs + more! The spin on this will be that I want to make everything I feature truly attainable, real, and relatable for readers (think summer dresses for $65 or less, real girl's home tours, parties w/ DIY touches, etc!).

I mean, love a fancy designer dress as much as the next girl, but it's definitely not within my means.  I know there are so many readers with a lifestyle like me, who love fashion, party hosting, decorating and still manage to have glamour and style in their life while still being in college, a young professional, or starting a new family! This is why I am so passionate about creating a magazine that features just that.

I hope you're as excited about this as I am and it resonates with you as well :)

I want readers to feel as involved as possible in the content! Here's an easy way to be a part of the first issue--- tweet or email me a picture of your favorite item in your closet!

Photobucket

So, here's what I need from you...

If you have any interest in contributing, whether your talents lie in writing editorial content, photography, graphic design, editing, PR, or even story ideas. Send them my way! If you're a brand and want to get involved please contact me as well, there are plenty of advertising and editorial opportunities!

Email me: LPFMag@gmail.com
Tweet me + follow us on twitter: @LPFMag

Once LPF Mag launches, I'll need your help to spread the word + will have lots of fun in store for readers. I'm so excited to already have interest and support. I can't wait to start this journey with you all while I follow my dreams. It's going to be quite a project, but something I really believe in!

Pastel Melody!

Today I have finally felt the spring warmth, so I enjoy it in my new pleated pale rose skirt. I'm so in love with pleats and pale colors this season, so I decided to combine it in this look. I'm also a big fan pf pearls, so I add a pearl necklace worn as bracelet. It add femininity and sensuality. The bag which I wear I found some days before in a vintage store and I felt in love with it. It reminds me about ones from Celine, and it is so small and comfortable. I feel like there is missing a leather belt, but I hadn't a suitable one.

Sporty chic!

The model Iekeliene Stange appears in the April issue of Flair magazine. The brunette beauty hits the gym wearing a mix of hoodies, sneakers and lightweight jackets in a hazy, almost ethereal setting. Like I have mentioned in one of my previous posts, sporty chic is probably the main trend of this season. So let's get inspired by this magnificent editorial, and such a beautiful lightening in order to be trendy this summer.

Trend: Metallic!

Metallic from gold to silver, from eyes shadows to nail polishes is a key trend of this season.  It is maybe one of my favorite trends, it looks festive and chic. Get ready to shine like a space ships this season, but remember ''less is more'', never wear it head to toe. There I have selected one of my favorite moments from catwalks and most inspirational picture so you would know how to wear it. I also decided to prepare some style tips for you:

1. Use minimal amount of accessories. Metallic itself is a significant visual punch, so you don't need to go overboard with accessories. Use simple accessories or even avoid them if you wear an all-metallic dress or blazer.

2. Combine metallics with neutrals.  You can take a bit of metallic accent by using neutrals so your look will be well-balanced.

3. Wear one metallic piece at a time. Like I have mentioned before never wear metallics  head to toe. In order to keep your look polished choose one piece and accentuate it accordingly.

Whether through pairing with neutrals or keeping accessories minimal, the key is to make a well-balanced and stylish look.

Russian Nostalgia!

The May issue of Interview Russia was inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky’s 1983 film, “Nostalghia”, starring Kate King as a woman on the brink. Fashion editor Gro Curtis has perfectly mixed the pieces from the likes of Chanel, Givenchy and Valentino, in which model looks like real Russian woman. This editorial is certainly one of my favorite, it is distinguished from others banal gloss editorials. It express emotions and convey that specific drama and nostalgia.

Beachy Summer Hair & Makeup Tutorial

I never consider myself much of an expert on hair and makeup, but I do have a signature summer look that is my go-to. I love some bronzer, shimmery eyeshadow, subtle & somewhat messy waves and a boho braid. It's easy to do, it's very me and it goes with anything that I'm wearing!

In my four years of blogging I rarely do any video blogs or tutorials, so when GHD asked me to do a hair tutorial, I immediately took them up! They're a great place to buy hair products online. Check out my how-to to get this boho, beachy summertime hair & makeup look for yourself!

Oh geeze, I'm such a dork on camera & do you know how scary it is to go make-upless on camera? Also, the song in the background is one of my favorite summery surfery tunes ("Falling" by Iration) in case you were wondering!

Here is the DIY for Beach Hair Spray I mentioned in the video:

DIY Beachy Hair Spray

What's your go to hair & makeup routine during the summertime?

Monica Belluci on Vanity Fair May 2012!

Monica Belluci shines on the cover of May issue of Vanity Fair. The actress is wearing a Dolce & Gabbana floral printed bodysuit and looks absolutely fabulous. I love the vintage effect of the photos, it adds mystery and softness. How beautiful is this 47 years woman!
