Last month we highlighted Anna Catherine’s fall campaign shot in the Fashion District and its debuting at LA Fashion Market right now! We had the opportunity to do a Q&A with Laura Horner, one of the Anna Catherine design team members (she was previously on the design team at Marc Jacobs), about the new line and why it embodies the Fashion District girl so well.
Q: What inspired the Fall 2012 collection?
Fall 2012 is our debut, so we really focused on creating an identity for the Anna Catherine girl: young, modern, discerning. We focused on clean lines, interesting details, versatility and quality.
Q: What is the must have for the season?
I love everything in the collection! But I'm especially into our fabric blocked sleeveless shirtdress and slouchy slub wool blazer, which can be completely changed depending on accessories and occasion.
Q: What can we expect from your Fall and future collections?
Cool, versatile pieces that work for the typical Anna Catherine girl — smart, confident, contemporary women who live city life to the fullest each and every day. We love to focus on pieces that are extremely versatile and are able to truly go from the office to a dinner party with ease, but with quality details such as leather trim or a sheer panel that give each piece something special and unique.
Q: Why you chose to shoot your campaign in our district?
We wanted to establish the Anna Catherine girl as someone who loves and embraces her city, as everyone who works on the line does in our own daily lives. We love the energy and architecture of the fashion district — the great new bars, hidden gem apparel shops and amazing cafes — and thought it would be the perfect backdrop for our line. Which, per our photos, I personally think it was!
For the record, Anna Catherine also does a great deal of their fabric and trim sourcing in the LA fashion district. We love it!
