Cerruti 1881

The blazer from this post I've got about a half year ago and never found a proper occasion to wear it out.  Yesterday I decided it was time for it to see the daylight, even if the photos turn out to be quite dark. I've been looking for the perfect houndstooth blazer for a long time and this Cerruti is more beautiful than I could wish. It is getting more and more colder outside and it becomes difficult to make photos.I think it is to early to counting down the days until spring so the only thing that remains is to enjoy even these cold days.

Love,
B

#OOTD

How on earth do you take outfit pictures when the sun isn't up before you leave for work and sets before you get home? I've been trying to catch daily instagaram #ootd (outfit of the day) snapshots of my outfits. Definitely not as profesh looking as a DSLR with perfect lighting and photographer, but a nice little collection of my day to day looks.

As you can see my style is totally different from day to day. Basically not a day goes by that I'm not rocking some sort of print or statement piece from a sparkly sequin shirt, bold colored pants to wrist full of bracelets or chukny sweater. I like to keep it all grounded with denim jackets, chambray shirts, or rugged duck boots.

My friend, Laura @ Beauty & the Beard does it best, she's great at posting her super cute daily outfits!

Send me your instagram username so I can follow all your #OOTD's. mine is @lapetitefashionista!

Last Minute DIY Halloween Costumes

A Disney favorite among girls and adults alike, the Little Mermaid is a staple costume during Halloween time. However, mermaid costumes can be quite expensive, and if you don't have any sewing skills, difficult to make. If Halloween has snuck up on you, and you're still in need of a costume this Little Mermaid DIY Costume tutorial is just for you. It can be tailored for women or little girls and is super easy to make, no sewing required.

We visited Michael Levine and found all the materials necessary for under $10 total!

For the tail we found this shimmery fabric in green and blue on sale for $3 a yard. To create the fins, we suggest using nylon netting, which is available in various colors for 85 cents a yard.

For the bandeau top, choose from a selection of sequin fabrics currently on sale for $2 a yard.

Another easy, no-sew last minute DIY costume idea: Minnie Mouse

We suggest using this tutorial. All you need is some polka dotted fabric (Michael Levine has plenty to choose from, as seen above), a white petticoat or tutu (available at Beverly Hills Hosiery), a black or white shirt from your closet, some pins and fabric glue.

See a fabric you like but it's not on sale? Mention the Fashion District and Michael Levine will give you a 20% discount off your entire purchase. You can also shop online at www.lowpricefabric.com and enter "Fashion20" at checkout!

Autumn Travels & Sisterly Love

I surprised my sister up at her new school in Massachusetts this past weekend  It was so exciting to travel incognito and show up at the steps of her dorm! I had so much fun catching up with my whole family and trading stories with my sisters of our moves across the country over maple almond milk lattes. I am so proud of her!
robert frost statue at amherst college // bold pants & sauv blanc // print at a farm to table restaurant // urban outfitters location housed inside an old bank // fall scenery // vintage glasses antiquing find // sisters reunited// beautiful lobby of our historic hotel

I took the opportunity to wear my striped sweater, jeans, navy peacoat, bubble necklace & leopard loafers. It felt perfectly preppy with a twist while we were touring the ivy league campuses.

The leaves still looked absolutely beautiful and we had fun grabbing coffee, trying out local restaurants, geeking out over all the historic sites, and doing some antiquing. Okay okay, a little bit of shopping was thrown in for good measure too.

Near or far, it's always so nice to catch up with mom, dad & little sis allie-- she even gave me a few of her "keep your balance" bracelets before I left.

Do any of my fellow readers live a long way from family? How do you stay close despite the distance?

Ghost

The real autumn has finally started. It is really cold and cloudy outside, so now I can only dream about these sunny days of summer. However, I can't complain when outside is so beautiful and colorful. Speaking about my outfit, I have finally found my extremely desirable peplum belt. I have been searching for a simple leather one but didn't find it until I enter in the Zara store and saw this one on the mannequin and it instantly became mine. I think it is more useful to have a peplum belt than a peplum skirt or top, with a belt like this one you can embellish any outfit. I have already dozens of versions how to use it and I promise to share it with you.

B

Beverly Hills Hosiery, Costumes & Vintage Lingerie

There is one place in the Fashion District where costumes are a year-round staple. Sitting on the corner at 801 S. Los Angeles. St., Beverly Hills Hosiery has catered to the entertainment and theater industries and costume enthusiasts alike for over 75 years. What sets Beverly Hills Hosiery apart from any lingerie or costume store Downtown isn't the recognizable Leg Avenue costume sets or the array of bright colored tutus. Here you'll find custom pieces that are made in LA: custom made petticoats like the ones you've seen on Dancing with the Stars (they shop here too), and hand made, vintage-inspired "Sissy Pants" for Can-Can girl outfits.

The selection of costume accessories, masquerade masks, sequin shorts and vests, stockings, hosiery, lingerie, corsets, costume shoes, wings, and wigs is unlike anything else you will find in DTLA. Along with the costumes and dance wear you'll find vintage lingerie, the likes of Rago shapewear and lingerie. They carry plus size too!

Feeling overwhelmed with options? Bring in a photo of what you're looking for and they'll help you find it. If they don't have the color or size you need, they will order it and have it to you in two days time. They take their customer service seriously, just look at their Yelp page.

We were very excited to learn that the petticoats can be custom made in any color, length and width, but perhaps what we were most excited to discover was these insane Mary Jane pumps. How fun is that bow? We want to build a costume around this shoe just so we'll have an excuse to wear it.

The "Sissy Pants" are made exclusively for Beverly Hills Hosiery and can be ordered in any color combination. We're still deciding how to incorporate these into our daily wardrobe...

For product and price inquiries please contact Beverly Hills Hosiery directly at 213-627-7705 or bhhosiery@gmail.com.

Latest Lust: Nate Berkus for Target

Dear Target, why must you take so much of my paychecks? I was SO excited to see that they've partnered with one of my favorite interior designers for a new home decor collection. I love everything from the studded pillows, to ikat bath rugs & metallic bowls.

Any of these would all make the perfect statement decorative pieces in your home.

Try This Trend: Goth Glam

I'm looking forward to Halloween this year because it's the perfect time to breakout all the goth glam pieces that have been trending in the fashion world. These were some of my favorite pieces from star-crossed loving skull intarsia sweaters to spider rings & even a vampire fang bottle opener.

These pieces are perfect for Halloween, but the perfect amount of spooky that you could rock them year round as a statment piece.

try this trend: goth glam

I personally am loving the cool metallic skull (only $15!!) and color-of-the-moment oxblood red lipstick! I've also been on a Buffy the Vampire Slayer kick on netflix (nerd alert ;), Buffy kicks butt, and she would definitely rock those Jeffery Campbell claw boots! Spooky Chic!

The glam goth style has definitely become a fashion trend that's not just for Halloween anymore.

What's your favorite goth glam piece?

Autumn Joys

Autumn is my favorite season as I have already mentioned, there’s just something about the crisp air, long walks, the colorful leaves falling on the ground and obviously my birthday. Spring and autumn are the only seasons with the perfect weather balance, it is neither too cold nor too hot, it is just perfect. How delightful can be hearing the satisfying noise of crunching leaves while you’re walking in the park.  Autumn brings me so many joys as you can see in the last photo :)))))
